TV Series Review: Stranger Things

Hello Everyone!

As you may or may not know, I have a slight obsession with TV shows and have seen TONS of series so I thought I would start doing some reviews for you all! I’m always looking for TV show reviews to help me decide what to watch next, so hopefully this will help you! Netflix came out with Stranger Things on July 15th and let me tell you, I’ve heard tons of people ranting and raving about this show. I just had to watch it and review it for you all.

The show takes place in the 80s and centers around Will Byers, a missing child in the town of Hawkins. Will’s friends and family are distraught at his disappearance and do everything they can in an attempt to find him. At the same time a strange girl is found in the forest; a girl with many of her own supernatural powers. Thunder crackling. Lights flickering. This show is the definition of creepy, and I loved every second of it!

It’s eerie and dark and edgy and a must watch! To be honest I thought it would be a little lame with the supernatural component, however it was done really well and wasn’t overbearing. I’m tired of the whole vampire/werewolf thing and this was a breath of fresh sci-fi air. For all of you romance lovers out there, don’t fear, there’s a wonderful love triangle-ish thing that will keep your heart content.

The acting is incredible considering half of the main characters are preteens. When I was that age I couldn’t even fake sick to my mom to let me stay home from school, let alone pretend to be a girl with telekinesis powers that was raised in a laboratory. I think Winona Ryder’s acting truly took the cake with her performance as Joyce Byers, Will’s mom. I have never really seen any of her other work, but have a whole new respect for her after watching her heart wrenching performance as a distraught mother.

Overall I’m giving this show a well-deserved 4.5/5. I can guarantee that when season 2 comes out I’ll be binge-watching it like it’s going out of style.

Have you seen this show? Leave a comment in the comments section below telling me what you think about Stranger Things!

My Summer Beauty Favourites

Hello Everyone!

This summer I really found myself reaching for the same products which are now empty. I figured if I loved them so much, I might as well make a post about it sharing these products with you all!

First is my 310 Cali #2 bronzer tanning lotion. I’m very fair and don’t normally tan, or when I do I come out looking like a giant lobster, and so I wanted to try finding a product that would help with that. I went to my local tanning salon and they sold me this tanning lotion and I absolutely love it! I used it before tanning outside and I have to say this is the first summer that I’ve barely burned and actually got colour. People keep complimenting me on my tan which has never happened to me before believe it or not. Definitely something I’m going to repurchase!

Since I had a tan, I didn’t really put on a lot of foundation as I just don’t have any to match my current skin colour and I prefer a more natural beauty look in the summertime. However, this did not stop me from wanting to get my glow on! I’m definitely a dewy skin lover and to get my glow I’d pop on some L’oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator on a beauty blender and go to town on my cheekbones!

The next product I wanted to talk about is Maybelline’s Fit Me Set + Smooth powder. I tend to get a bit oily around my T zone in the summer with all of the sunscreen and moisturizer I apply, and so I needed something to tame my nose oil. This powder was amazing! I even use this when my skin is super dry and it doesn’t cling to my dry patches and make my skin feel even tighter.

Lastly, I pretty much used a Wet n Wild blush that I no longer have the name for, but you can refer to the swatch above to see the colour. It adds such a soft pinky glow that looks so natural and beautiful for the summer! It also has flicks of sparkles in it to add a little more glow to your skin.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite summer beauty products are!

5 Last Minute Summer Activities

Hello Everyone!

If you're anything like me, you're looking at the calendar and wondering where the heck the summer months went. It's almost the end of August and all you've done is sit on your couch binge watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer on Netflix! So you forgot to rent a cottage and campsite back in April, we've all been there, but I'm here to be your summer fairy godmother and tell you that there's still lots of time left to make this summer memorable. Here's a list of some last minute things you can do to have fun before the summer is over:

  1. Drinks on the patio:There's nothing more summery than a pitcher of margaritas and your best gal pals hanging out at a restaurant patio. The best part is you can do this any night...or morning/afternoon. I don't judge. For a more affordable option, grab a bottle of margarita mix at your local store (split the price between each person) and host a cocktail hour in your own backyard.
  2. Spend the day at your local beach: You might not have time to rent a cottage or a campsite, but that shouldn't stop you from spending your final days of summer by the water. Find the closest lake to you, pack a cooler full of snacks, and make a day out of it. Even if it's a long drive time, nothing screams summer more than a road trip, which brings me to my next idea,
  3. Plan a spontaneous road trip. Take a couple days off of work (or you could call in sick, again, judge free zone) and plan a spontaneous road trip to that place you've always wanted to go with your favourite person. It doesn't have to be a long trip to be a fun one. No hotels left? Not a problem! Here's a link teaching you how to sleep comfortably in your car in a Walmart parking lot: http://themorningfresh.com/2012/06/29/a-guide-to-car-camping-in-walmart-parking-lots/
  4. Watch a movie at the drive-in: This is a more affordable option if you're looking to have some summer fun on a budget. To save extra money head to a bulk store and buy your own snacks!
  5. Go to an outdoor concert. Enjoy the warm weather and some good music! Check your local theaters to see who's touring in your area.
These are just some of the summer activities you can do on short notice. Hopefully this helps you make this summer one to remember! If you can think of more activities, leave a comment in the comments section below!

Get To Know Me

Hello Everyone!

I never really make posts about my life and what's currently going on with me and so I decided to do just that. I think it's a great way for you all to get to know me and keep up with my life if you want to. This will just be a super generic post about some major things in my life/what I'm doing.

I'm heading in to my fourth year of university this fall in the Brain and Cognition program. I'm not a makeup artist and I'm not trying to become one; I'm just a science student with a passion for beauty products. I'm hoping to head to med school within the next couple of years so we'll see how that goes! If any of you are premed or want to talk about anything science/med school related let me know!

Me trying to be artsy while studying for exams

I've spent most of my summer studying for the MCAT and volunteering in a lab at my university which has been amazing! I never thought I'd like doing research that much but turns out I quite like it. Finding a lab that would take me on as a volunteer was quite difficult so if you're in the same position don't feel bad about it! Just keep contacting as many people as possible and something will come up.

I'm a huge animal lover! I currently have three cats and recently got a new german shepherd puppy whom I love dearly. His name is Colt and he's the apple of my eye. I've always dreamed about opening up my own animal shelter but that'll be in the very far future if I ever can afford it.

How can I resist those puppy dog eyes?

So after all that, I'd like to hear more about you! Tell me one thing about yourself in the comments section below.

Homemade Coffee Face Mask

Hello Everyone!

Recently I've been using a homemade coffee mask and I loved it so much that I wanted to share it with you all! Believe it or not all you need is coffee grinds, plain yogurt, and honey. The coffee grinds act as a great exfoliator and minimizes inflammation and redness. This mask is also perfect for dry skin as both the yogurt and honey act as great natural moisturizers.

First you're going to take the coffee grinds and add enough yogurt to create a paste-like consistency. Once you've got your paste, add in a dollop of honey and mix it in until you get the mask to a perfect creamy texture. You can play around with the quantities since all of the ingredients are wonderful for your skin, that you really can't overdo it with any of them. What you're looking for is the perfect consistency for application. What I do is try out the mask on my face, and if I find its too thick to apply I'll add more yogurt until it reaches a smooth consistency.

Once you've got the perfect texture, use a brush to apply it to your face and let it sit for 30 minutes. Enjoy your youthful and glowy skin!

Leave a comment below if you try this mask and tell me what you think!

Maybelline's The Rock Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Hey Everyone!

I had the best long weekend at my cottage and arrived back home yesterday morning. I absolutely love being able to spend some time during the summer up at the cottage! The days are responsibility-free and are loaded with lots of eating, swimming, more eating, and campfires. How can anyone hate that?

Before I left I tried out a couple of looks using Maybelline's The Rock Nudes eyeshadow palette and I wanted to review it for you all. You know I'm all about saving money and finding good quality products for cheap so I was really hoping this palette would work out. I got this palette as a gift and when I first saw it I thought the colours were gorgeous. They even have some unique colours like a sparkly teal and a deep plum purple for anyone who wants to adventure out and create a more bold eye look.

One of the most helpful features of the palette is the info they provide you with on the back. There's 3 different ways in which you can categorize the eyeshadows in the palette, and there are diagrams to help you figure out colour placement on the eye. Very helpful if you're new with makeup and not really sure what to do. Of course if you're more advanced you can easily just create your own look with whatever colours you choose.

Now it's time to get to the actual product! I found most of the colours to be pretty pigmented and blendable, but some were also chalky and clumpy. The lighter shades in the palette tend to be chalky and not easy to work with, while some of the darker shades can create quite a bit of fallout. For a drugstore eyeshadow palette I do have to say that I'm pretty impressed with it. The eyeshadow formula isn't the greatest, however for the price you're paying you can create quite a few wearable looks.

Here's the look I created up close and in different lighting:

I created this look by applying the white shade from lash line to brow bone and then used the top brown shade (#4) as my transition colour. I then deepened the outer V with a touch of the black shade and finally used the sparkly light shade (#7) on my lid. I then used the black shadow to create the wing instead of using eye liner.

Let me know if any of you pick up this palette and tell me what you think! Should I try out the other palettes in the collection?

2 Looks With The Naked 2 Palette

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had wonderful weekends! I spent most of my weekend with my aunt and grandmother who both live together. I don’t get to see them a lot since I’m usually away for school and so I decided it would be nice to see them. I was able to create two looks this weekend with my naked 2 palette that I wanted to share with you!

First is a simple neutral look that I absolutely adore for everyday wear. I wore this on Saturday as I spent most of my day with my aunt downtown and wanted something that wasn’t too crazy or glam.

I mainly used foxy (all over my eyelid and up to my brow bone) as well as tease (in my crease) to create this look! I also used half-baked to highlight my inner corner. The only product I used for this that wasn't from the urban decay palette was a transition shade from a drugstore palette. It's basically a very pale pinky/orange colour, so you can substitute that for anything you have in your collection that looks similar.

This was my full face of makeup from that day. I love to keep my makeup simple and natural for the summer months with some glow to have the appearance of healthy looking skin. (Check my last post to see what I use to get my summer glow!)

The second look I did was more of a glittery glam look!

For this look I still used my usual foxy and tease, however I used half-baked on the inner portion of my lid and then I used chopper on the middle. I wish you could see the colour distinction better but hopefully you get the idea!

How did you spend your weekend? Leave a comment below and let me know!

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator

Hello Everyone!

I recently picked up the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow and Illuminator in Ice from my local drug store after watching a couple of youtubers praise the product. I’m always on the hunt for good quality makeup that’s affordable and so I thought I’d give this a try. I purchased this for around $15 CAD ($12 USD) and you get 0.67 fluid ounces/ 20 ml of product.

I have to say that I’m quite impressed with this highlighter! I feel like a glowing goddess when I put this stuff on. I think the colour is so pretty and the pigment is amazing! The product can be used as a face primer as well and let me tell you, it gives you the most dewy and glowing looking skin when used under a foundation! It can look a little sparkly if you use too much so just keep that in mind.

That pigment though!!!

I do find that the product dries quickly and so blending it out can be difficult if you don’t work fast enough. I find the best way to apply it is with a beauty blender as it can really help soften the line. When I apply the product with my fingers it’s very hard to blend and ends up looking like a straight line of highlighter on my cheek bone which is not a cute look. I find the same thing happens when using a brush. It just spreads the product around my cheek without blending it out nicely so again you’re stuck with a chunk of highlighter on your cheek. You don’t need an expensive beauty blender either. I just use a knockoff one I bought from H&M and it works just the same.

Have you tried this product yet? If so leave a comment below and tell me what you think about it.

My Travel Purse Essentials

Hello Everyone!

As I mentioned in a previous post I recently traveled to Atlanta, and I thought I should do a post about my travel purse essentials! The key is getting the right sized bag with the right amount of pockets. I've made the mistake (believe it or not more than once) of bringing a tiny crossbody purse which made it difficult to carry anything but my wallet. It was horribly tight and anytime I went to grab something out of it, everything else in my tiny bag would come flying out. I've picked up tampons in front of strangers one too many times and I've decided to graduate to a larger bag. I still recommend purchasing a crossbody style purse as your travel bag as its so easy to carry and leaves your arms open for more important things, like carrying a travel book or a croissant- whatever floats your boat.

Now let's get inside my bag!

Disclaimer: None of these items actually end up inside of my bag, not to worry though, they're still loved dearly
  • First, my wallet and passport are a must and need to fit comfortably in my bag. Also, I won't be able to leave the country without either of these and so if they're forgotten I should really reassess my ability to travel unsupervised
  • Purel/ santizing hand wipes- these bad boys come in handy all of the time! When I'm travelling I'm generally out for majority of the day and find myself touching tons of door handles/ railings/ bathrooms, and I absolutely need to sanitize my hands right after
  • Hair ties- Unless you're hair is gorgeously voluminous and wonderful from morning until night without any touch ups, I recommend bringing along some hair ties. There's nothing worse than looking in the mirror and seeing the frizz mop on my head, and not having a hair tie to tame that sucker with
  • Water- I can't stress how important it is to be hydrated while on vacation! It's very easy to lose track of the day and forget to drink water which can lead to a heaping amount of problems, such as headaches and dizziness. Unless you paid hundreds to thousands of dollars to stare at your hotel room walls, I suggest you drink the water
  • Powder and powder puff- this may seem silly, but since I'm out for such long periods of time while on vacation, I like to keep some powder and a powder puff/brush in my purse so that I can quickly freshen up my face. Although I have dry skin, I tend to be more oily when I'm in hot/humid places, and so the powder is a must unless I plan on frying an egg on my face as one of my travel activities.
  • Tissues- this also may seem silly but believe me, when you find yourself walking down the streets of New York with your street meat in hand (or street veggie meat for all of my vegetarian/vegan followers out there) and you watch as some ketchup releases itself from your hotdog bun and onto your shirt, and all you have left is the greased up napkin you've already used to wipe your mouth, you'll reach into your bag and find your tissues and you'll think of this moment and thank me
That's all I can think of for now! If anyone has anything else to add please feel free to do so in the comments and I'll add it to the list! Wishing you all happiness and save travels!

Todays OOTD

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share my ootd with you all because I can't get enough of it! The Jean shorts are from garage and I recently picked up the white crop top from H&M for $10 USD. I'm going to do an H&M haul post soon since I got a ton of cute stuff for the summer while I was in Atlanta!
I've been obsessed with high neck lines lately although I'm not sure if it's really the trend right now. What do you think?

Where I've Been...

Hello Everyone!

I know I've been MIA lately and so I just wanted to jump on here and give a quick update. My mom has been having some health issues and I've had to do some travelling to take care of her and help her out. On the brightside things are looking better for her and so I'm hoping to have this blog back up and running again! Hope all is well you everyone!

Wisdom Teeth And High Neck Lines

Hello Everyone!

I recently got my wisdom teeth removed and boy was that something! Thankfully my procedure went really smoothly and so far the same can be said about my recovery. On the bright side, I've been eating TONS of my favourite chocolate pudding and so I can't really complain.

I've also been a little obsessed with high neck line outfits and wanted to show you a shirt that I picked up from H&M. I just find them to be so classy, but what do you all think? Please excuse my runaway brows in the photo below!

Not too long ago I was in love with a plunging V-line, which I still do adore, but the high neck line seems to have my heart. Which do you prefer?

Lazy Days...Or Weeks

Hello Everyone!

I've been super lazy since the end of my exams in April and I haven't been able to get out of this lazy funk. I did get a chance to go to the Pearl Jam concert in Toronto on Tuesday and I have to say it was the best concert of my life! For those who don't know, Pearl Jam happens to be one of my absolute favourite bands and I've never been able to see them live until now! They're so talented and sound just as incredible live as they do on their album.

Quick tip for you concert goers, it's much cheaper to wait until 15 minutes after the concert has started and buy scalper tickets outside of the venue. Tickets are instantly 50% off and it's wonderful!

I'm still obsessed with my outfit from that night and here are some photos:

I also wanted to show you my eye makeup! I wish I had a better camera to use because this photo does not do it justice. I used the naked 2 palette to create this look.

Hope you're all being more productive than I am!

Homemade Face Mask For Dry Skin

Hello Everyone!

My skin has been super dry lately and so I wanted to try a moisturizing face mask to see if it would help. I looked up some recipes for homemade face masks and found that oatmeal is really helpful for dry skin. The recipe I found was from this website: http://skincare.allwomenstalk.com/amazing-homemade-face-masks-for-dry-skin and they have a ton more to choose from!

It calls for:
- 1 tablespoon of oat bran or oatmeal (cooked) (I used oatmeal)
- 1 tablespoon of yogurt
- 1 table of honey
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil (I used coconut oil as a substitute)
- 1/8 of a teaspoon of bee pollen (optional- I did not include it)

I noticed the mask was quite liquidy so I added a few more tablespoons of oatmeal to thicken it up a bit. I kept the mask on my face for about 10 minutes and then rinsed it off. I found that it worked wonderfully and didn't leave my face dry and tight as other face masks have. Oatmeal masks are also used for acne and I noticed my current breakout reduced in redness. It also smelled delicious!

The leftover mask should stay good for about a week and I plan on using it at least once a day for the rest of the week. I'm so happy I actually found something that moisturizes my face! Let me know if any of you give this a try and let me know how it works!

Mothers Day Gift Ideas

Hello Everyone!

With Mothers Day around the corner I figured that I would give you all a few gift ideas for the ladies in your life.

1. Manicure / Pedicure
My Mother loves pampering herself every now and then but will never splurge on it unless it's necessary. I picked up some prepaid certificates at our local salon and she can beautify herself guilt free!

2. Gift Cards Gift Cards Gift Cards
If your mother is anything like mine, she's super picky and difficult to shop for. There's nothing my mother loves more than getting gift cards so that she can buy whatever she wants. This will save her time as she won't have to return the waffle maker I got her for the panini press she really wanted.

3. Family Scrapbook
This is for all of the sentimental/crafty mothers out there. A gift that requires time, effort, and has photos of her children will never go unappreciated!

4. Focus on Her Hobbies
Is your mother a gardener? Maybe she'd like a new plant to add to her collection. Is she an avid movie watcher? Maybe she'd like some free movie passes for all of her chick flick needs. Is she a reader? Check out your local bookstore or some reviews online to get her the latest and greatest page turner. Is she big on cooking/baking? Maybe she'd like a new muffin tray to attempt all of her new pinterest recipes.

5. Gifts on a budget
Regardless of your mother's likes/dislikes, there's one thing all mothers have in common and that's the love of their children. There's nothing a mother will love more than simply spending time with their family. If you're on a budget, pitching in for a family dinner or even spending the day making a home cooked meal with your mom will make her day more special than any bouquet of roses will.

Good luck to all of you on your hunt for the perfect mothers day gift! I pray the gift receipt will not be needed.

Friends 4 Lyfe

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to pop in for a life chat with you all. Today's topic is friendships and how not to be a crappy friend, such as myself. My life gets super busy sometimes and it's so easy for me to forget about my friends and focus on my school or the boyfriend. This past year has probably been the busiest as I'm in third year university and these grades are very important for graduate schools. I'm all for being focused on my future career and sometimes that means putting myself first, but I think I did too much of that this year. I really neglected some of the people who care loads for me and realizing that has left me feeling kind of shitty.

Considering I've semi-abandoned some of my friends, the true ones still stuck around and I was still able to pick up the pieces. At first I had no idea how I was going to make it up to any of them until I realized that an apology can really go a long away. Step 1 is to acknowledge you were a crappy friend and to validate their feelings, which I did. Step 2 is to spend time with said friend , even if it means sacrificing something to show them that you care. I'm currently working on this step. Unfortunately this is as far as I've gotten in this Friendship Rebuild Program and so I'll have to update you on future steps.

I read this quote once that basically said that there's a difference between people who have time for you when it's convenient, and people who make time for you. I definitely want to work on making more time for the people that matter.

It's never too late to save a friendship. If there's someone you want to have in your life it's up to you to make sure they remain there.

Jess

P.S If step 1 doesn't initially work, attempt it again, but this time with the addition of a doughnut. If that doesn't work I'm afraid there's nothing you can do.

Cooking For Non-Cooks 101: Bacon

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Cooking For Twenty Somethings Who Are New Adults And Don’t Know How To Adult. Today is all about bacon! I used to hate the thought of cooking bacon as the grease would rocket launch out of the pan and onto my arms and it just wasn’t pleasant, but I’ve discovered an easier way of cooking it! If you're looking for a fancy way to cook bacon that's relatively danger free and will impress your parents/roommates/significant other keep on reading!

You’ll need:
 • One baking sheet
 • Parchment paper
• 1 pack of bacon (make sure it’s not frozen)

It’s very simple. First you’re going to preheat your oven to 375°F and let it warm up while you prepare the bacon. Cut the parchment paper to the size of the baking sheet and place it on the baking sheet. Next you’re going to take the bacon and lay the slices one next to the other on the parchment. Depending on how crispy you like it the cooking time will change. I left mine in for about 30-35 minutes and it more on the crispy side, but make sure to keep an eye on the bacon and remove it when you feel it’s ready. I forgot to take a photo of the bacon prior to cooking but here’s what it looks like when it’s done to get an idea of the placement.

Hope you all enjoyed this and happy eating!

Drugstore Nude Lipstick Review

Hello Everyone!

I’ve been on the hunt for a nude drugstore lipstick and I picked up a couple to review for you. The two I picked up were Revlon’s Extreme Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte in Nude Attitude (001) and Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish by Kate in 40.

Left is the Rimmel London by Kate and Right is Revlon's Matte Nude Attitude

First let’s talk about the Rimmel London by Kate nude lipstick. The packaging is beautiful and the product smells so yummy! As soon as I applied it I could tell that it was super creamy which is great for my lips as they tend to be on the drier side. The colour was super light though, much lighter than I had anticipated, however I ended up liking it. There was definitely transfer of the product though and so it would definitely need to be reapplied throughout the day. Considering it retails for about $7 Canadian (probably about $5.50 US) I think it’s pretty good for the price you’re paying. Here’s a photo of it in natural light:

Next is the Revlon Matte Nude lipstick. It doesn’t have any special scent and the packaging is pretty classic with the black body and gold finishing. It was pretty creamy which I found surprising as it is a matte lipstick, although not as creamy as the Kate lipstick. I found that the coverage for this lipstick wasn’t as great as I wanted. If you can see in the photo below, it was kind of patchy and didn’t really have full coverage. This one retails for $6 Canadian (about $4.70 US) however I don’t think it’s something I would purchase again.

Overall, the Kate lipstick was my favourite of the two, however if you’re looking for more of a matte finish it’s not the way to go. I’m still on the hunt for the best drugstore nude lipstick and so I’ll keep you all posted!

Animal Obsession

Hello Everyone!

First things first, my exams are finally over and my summer vacation has officially begun! I'll have tons more time for my blog and I'm so happy about that!

Today I wanted to talk about my latest jewellery obsessions! My current favourite combo is my Sterling Snake ring from Pandora paired with my Elephant bracelet from Divinty LA.

The ring was more expensive ($90) but worth every penny! The entire front side is covered in little jewels to keep the snake sparking and makes it look more realistic (like actual snake skin). I've had it since November of 2015 and it's still shining and sparkling like the first day I got it. The picture does not do it justice.

The bracelet was cheaper (about $15 US I believe) and I'm fairly impressed with the quality. The company provides meanings for the beads that are used which is very whimsical and I love it! The elephant charm is fading a bit but nothing too major. Plus, when you purchase their products a portion of the money goes to a particular charity (depending on the bracelet you buy).

Hope you all love these as much as I do!

Happy Summer,

Jessiré

Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll

Hello Everyone!

I finally pulled out my Police shirt today and I'm loving it! I've been listening to my favourite rock bands recently and I forgot how much I loved those too! A little bit of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Beartooth and The Police are enough to make my heart melt with happiness.

Pearl Jam is coming this August to Toronto and I'm desperate for a pair of tickets (I'm lowkey
hoping the boyfriend comes through with a pair but we'll see about that). Not to mention that soon after that there's another concert with Disturbed, Alter Bridge, Saint Asonia, and Breaking Benjamin. It's every alternative rock lovers dream!!

Forever wishing I was talented enough to be a rock star,

Jessiré

Summer Lovin

Hello Everyone!

Is anyone else loving this beautiful weather or what?! It's exam season and I'm definitely drained/exhausted from all of the studying but tonight is all about self care. I've decided to watch a movie with my roommate and just relax as next week is going to be pretty intense.

It was so beautiful today and I decided to pull out all of my spring/summer clothes. I'm so happy that the warm weather is here! Hopefully it stays this time and we're not hit with a very unexpected and giant snow storm.

(Please excuse the wrinkles in my clothes. I do not know how to iron. Send help.)

Anyways if you've been super busy lately I want you to take the night off and relax! Take care of yourself xx

Amazing Makeup Remover Wipes

Hello Everyone!

I've been searching high and low for a wipe that can remove my makeup without irritating my skin and/or stinging my eyes and I've finally found the perfect product! It's the Garnier Clean+ Soothing Remover Cleansing Towelettes which are designed to remove makeup (including water proof) and calm the skin. I've had these for a little while and have used them multiple times with no stinging/irritation. My roommate has also used them and they haven't irritated her either, and we both have sensitive skin.
I do find that they can feel a little filmy after using them but nothing major and so if I'm super lazy (which I am) I'll use them and go to sleep right away. Usually if I find wipes to be super filmy I'll lightly wash my face after, but I don't have to do that with these bad boys!

I got them for about $8 (Canadian) and there's 25 towelettes in a package. I know Neutrogena have a ton that are slightly cheaper (by a dollar) but they've always seemed to irritate my eyes. To be honest, I really only use makeup wipes when I've had a late night out and so a pack of 25 for me will last quite a while. If I have an everyday makeup look on I'll only use one, but if I have a full face of makeup (including a dark eyeshadow look) I'll generally use two.

If any of you give them a try let me know and tell me what you think!

Last Night's Outfit

Hello Everyone!

I finally got a chance to wear the new crop top I bought from Forever 21! I paired it with a black pencil skirt and some nude wedges. I wish I had a photo of the wedges for you all because they're stunning and I've been wearing them every chance I get. This definitely is something I'd wear in the summer but I couldn't resist and just really wanted to break the shirt in!

Hope you all like it as much as I do!

Are You Pretty?

Hey Everyone!

This is going to be a bit of a cheesy and emotional post but I just feel the need to write about it. Lately I've been feeling really down on myself self-esteem wise and I don't  exactly know why. I'd say I'm 90% confident but there's always that 10% that creeps up on me sometimes and I struggle with it every now and then. I think it's hard to see what the ideal look of beauty is these days and to know that you don't fit that exact mold, and that can be quite hard to deal with. I also know that looks aren't everything, but I'm only human and realistically it's hard to comfort yourself with just "my personality is great" sometimes. Whenever this happens though I like to remind myself of a quote I read somewhere that basically went something like "I look at other girls and think 'wow she's pretty I wish I looked like that' but then I think 'I'm not pretty like her but I'm pretty like me' and that's okay." I'm 100% paraphrasing and I don't know the source but it definitely stuck with me.

I'm pretty like me. I think we fail to realize that there isn't one type of beauty or one look that is the most loved. I mean, there's no doubt that Angelina Jolie is beautiful and also that Jennifer Aniston is beautiful, and those are two very different looking women, but both are beautiful. I mean Mila Kunis doesn't look like Gigi Hadid, but they're both beautiful! I think you get the point.

I just want to let everyone know that you're pretty like you and nobody will have the same uniqueness that you have.

Okay the cheesiness is over and it's  back to fun and food and happy things!

Lots of love,

Drugstore Mascara

Hello Everyone!

I've lately been loving the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Original mascara and I wanted to review it for you! I have super long lashes but not very many of them so I'm always looking for mascara that can give me a bit of volume. This mascara not only does that, but also lengthens my lashes a bit further making them look like false lashes! My only issue is that a lot of product comes off in a few swipes and can get clumpy, so to fix this I use either the Voluminous Million Excess or Physicans Formula Organic Wear mascara to remove any clumps and help me get the look I'm going for. Other than that I absolutely love the colour as it really gets your lashes black! I've had this product before an left it in search of something else, only to always return back to it. Sometimes you just have to stick with the classics as they're the best.

Here's a photo of each product mentioned:

The wand of the voluminous original is a straight wand which at first I didn't mind, but now I feel as though I should get something with a curvy wand to help with the curl in my lashes. I don't want to say it's a downfall of the product as I've never tried a curvy wand to see if it helps with curling lashes, however my next purchase will definitely be something with a curvy wand and I'll review that for you all too.

P.S. If you're not into super black lashes and want something very subtle, the organic wear is definitely something to get! It puts very little product on your lashes to give it a very natural look when used on it's own.

April Showers Bring May...Snow?

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to update you and show you what it looks like outside my window right now. Is it April or December? Who knows!

This week has been pretty stressful but ended off with a good weekend. I'm going to spend the rest of my night binge watching House and eating popcorn. One thing is for sure, I refuse to stick a single toe outside of my house like this!

Suns Out Guns Out

Hello Everyone!

I know I already blogged today but I just wanted to pop in and say how happy I am that it's 6:51 PM and I still need to wear sunglasses! Summer is around the corner and I am loving it.

Light It Up

Hello Everyone!

Recently, I realized that I had a ton of polaroids and absolutely nowhere to put them, so I decided to be creative and pin them to an old cork-board. I then decided to tape some Christmas lights around them to create the luminous frame. This was the result and I truly love it!

I wish I could show you all in person as the picture does not do it justice, but you get the point. I didn't want to put the photos in an album since I love them so much and I didn't want them to be hidden away. Hopefully it'll inspire you to bust out your photo albums and be creative!
